There is a disc in there. Turned it on, pressed eject and no response. Tried unplugging, holding onto power button, holding onto eject button, nothing works. Finally i figured out you can manually eject the disc and removed it. But if i try to insert a disc, it won't take it in. And if there is a disc in there, eject button doesn't respond

Simple solution: First, unplug the PS3. Then plug it back in. Turn it on. Grab a lighter. You're gonna need it. Tilt the PS3 around, while pressing eject. If it has not yet ejected the disc. Grab an old towel, roll it up, and place it in a trail leading to the PS3. Pour some lighter fluid on the towel and PS3. Applied new thermal paste, disc drive not working now. I applied new thermal paste (and by which I had to take apart my PS3 Slim and reassemble) and now my disk drive does not work. It makes the weirdest grinding noise on boot up, and it refuses to take discs. I double checked and the ribbon cables are applied. Reconnect the ribbon for the drive. FtZMhh.
