The camera does not have a zoom function. Best way to do this is to record in the highest resolution you camera can handle (2.7k) and then zoom into the image in your editor. By doing this you can still maintain a full 1080p HD output. See my YouTube Channel for GoPro Reviews & Tips!
With the brand new Hero 12, in real-life conditions, you will likely get just 1 hour of recording at the highest quality settings and almost 2 hours of video recording at lower resolution. With that said, GoPro claims that the batter they used for Hero 12 uses a brand new technology and will last up to 30-40% more than previous models.
